Utilisation of secondary raw material fertilizers
Municipal sewer sludges contain important vegetable nutrients and organic substances with high fertilizer value. Since sewage sludges have been accruing incessantly, the operators of wastewater treatment plants at all times have been needing legalised and socially acceptable disposal facilities. The basis for the utilisation of sewage sludges is provided by the AbfKlärV (German Sewage Sludge Ordinance).
For reasons of water and soil protection a regular sludge analysis is required for the further utilisation and necessarily determines the next steps of action. For several years, an amendment of the German Sewage Sludge Ordinance from 1992 is being discussed and expected to come into effect within the next two years.
